Life update

OK so sorry I never post but my internet dies at 9:30. Also why I'm never on AIM (sorry Laura). I also have questionable service here on the base (Coast Guard Base). New York isn't bad, and I'm getting used to my job, but then again I haven't had to go back out to the muck. I will return to the marsh next week and I've decided that there's no way it's as bad as I originally thought, I just think I needed to aclimate to the job. It's still going to smell like farts, and possibly swallow me whole, but I'll live. I really like the life here, and after I fix up this house, it's should be quite pleasant. Sandra is leaving tomorrow, so sans Aaron's weekend visits I'll have the house to myself. I can't decide if I'll like that or not... it could be spooky, or incredibly nice. We'll see. Ryan's been here this week exploring the city and helping me redecorate my room, which now looks soooooooooooooo much nicer. Either way I am settling in just fine, and have even spoken to Bruce (the guy from Utah) about jobs this spring. This weekend I plan on travelling to the Bronx to get info on jobs there. If I get a job in the Bronx, Megs and I could live together? It's a possibility.

I do hope to start writing everyday, AKA I'll hopefully get into a schedule. <3s to all you guys!

Second Weekend pt. 1

So in the last week I have discovered and decided many things. I found out that the guy in Utah is now offering a living allowance of $2938. I was angry at first then a depressed, and THEN I decided to ask Bruce for my job back. After calling multiple people, I was ready to call Bruce on Monday. Over the weekend I went out to Coney Island (more specifically Astroland-- just in case you're from Brooklyn and it matters ;-) ). Anyway I went with Latoya and Aaron two of my roommates, and it was fabulous. I really enjoy being around the two of them. They are hilarious. We went to Nathan's and had hot dogs of course. They rode the Cyclone a wooden rollercoaster, but I CERTAINLY did not. It doesn't look too bad so I might go back and try it. In any event I bought the picture of the two of them cause it is HILARIOUS. They both look a little ridiculous.
We all rode the Wonder Wheel which was sweet. and Toya and I rode this thing called the Break Dancer which is similar to a Scambler, but a little more intense. I loved it but I felt sick by end. :-) Saturday, I headed into Manhattan and met Toya at work. She works at the park where you buy tickets for the Statue of Liberty. So she and I went to the Statue together. It was soooooooo great! Not only did I get to go for free, but I didn't have to wait in any of the lines!

See next post for the rest of the weekend.

MUCKY

So this week was the most disgusting week of my life... it was also full of plenty of hard work, physical and mental. However, there is a silver lining to this cloud, I went into Manhattan four nights this week, and it was a blast. Even last night when I went out by myself! I navigated the subway and the city and has some great pizza and I also stumbled upon/explored Little Italy and Chinatown. It was amazing and SO cute. So because I do like it here I'm going to keep at this job. I was thinking about finding something better, and then quitting, but I don't think I want to do that...I don't want to make a habit of that. Perhaps that's the way to get to where you want to be in this life, but it certainly doesn't look good, and it technically makes me a quitter, and I don't think I can be happy with myself isf I quit things because they are "too hard" or "not perfect". Granted I do have compound reasons to quit, and I almost wish that I had gone to Utah instead. I know I would have LOVED that job but there was just no way that I could have taken such a burden. ugh. I am going to try to make this work.

Trip part one

Today I began my trip to New York. I woke up late and in a panic, I was so stressed I even cried a couple of times! Once Ryan and I finally got on the road, we hit traffic IMMEDIATELY. It took us at least twenty minutes to get to Fredericksburg, that's four miles. well we had an OK trip up to Vanessa's hitting only a few other spots of congestion. So after getting to Vanessa's, we headed to the Metro. Hoping to get to the Zoo and do work, I was thouroghly annoyed to find that the Metro was apparently having severe difficulties. We finally arrived at the Zoo at 3:30ish aobut 4 hours after anticipated. We stayed for a bit, then metroed back (much faster this time). and Ryan and I had dinner with my sister and nephew. After dinner we headed to 395 and hit MASSIVE traffic from an accident that had just happened we were luckily able to take a quick detour. At any rate Ryan and I reached Philadelphia around 9:45. I talked to Mark Ringenary (my boss's colleauge) about picking up my key, and I told him I'd be there around 8am. We'll see how that goes.

Breaking up with UT

Today I broke up with Utah. it was hard because Bruce had just sent me an email with news and pictures from the Aviary. I told him that I had taken another position but that I really wanted to work with them in the future. Let's hope so. At any rate I am now free to travel to Staten Island... NYC here i come!!!!
